Much more than merely a bookstore, or a cinema, or a wine bar; Retro Cinema and Books is an experience... an unforgettable, enjoyable, experience. Consider:
THE SETTING
Situated in Historic Downtown Washington, Georgia, Retro Cinema & Books fills an entire historic brick building that has served various roles in its near 100 year history.
From The Retro's gigantic outdoor Hollywood mural, to its HOLLYWOOD memorabilia studded displays, a visit to Retro Cinema is awe inspiring. A walk inside our building evokes the feeling of returning to a time, and place, when searching for a rare gift or watching a classic movie was a worthy experience in and of itself.

CINEMA
Many comment that watching a classic movie at Retro Cinema is like being invited to a private screening at a movie studio. Posh seats, plush interior and generous room to relax makes for an enjoyable movie experience.
Thanks to a film vault shelved with hundreds of rare Hollywood films, and our partnership with 20th Century Fox and MGM, movie fans are treated to an exciting mix of unforgettable films; from Westerns, to Romance- from Bogart to Elvis- we show them all!
Watching a film at Retro Cinema also allows you to enjoy your picks from our fully stocked Concession Stand. Care for a glass of vintage wine or beer from The Retro's Backstage Wine Bar? No problem; it will be yours to sip as you watch the movie.
TECHNOLOGY
Our movies may be rare and vintage but our electronics aren't. Thanks to our digital projection system, Dolby 5.1 surround sound system and re-mastered prints many of our movies look and sound as good-or better- than they did when first released.

WINE BAR
After a day of filming actors, directors and producers typically meet in a collegial atmosphere to review and plan. These gatherings were often "backstage" and the mood enhanced with fine wines and hors' doeuvres. The Retro has re-created the look and feel of those special Hollywood days in its "backstage wine bar." Plush leather seating, rare film memorabilia and exotic wines and beers offer an unparalleled experience.
On Saturdays, Backstage plays host to sports fans who wish to watch their favorite teams compete on the sports screen with drink specials, snacks and prizes.
RENT THE RETRO
By popular demand The Retro is available on select dates for your private function or party. We have successfully hosted many events such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate meetings and private screenings. Catering available upon request.
